Mysterious and magical, the Yasawa chain which winds slightly northeastwards of the Mamanucas are simply like no other — a unique confluence of the traditional, remote, and sensationally natural.  This Composition showcases a cruise vessel anchored off that one-and-only star which some would consider one of the Yasawa Group’s best-known attractions — the Blue Lagoon ringed by its supernaturally broad, blinding swathe of sand on Nanuya Lailai island.  One of the most stunning views in all of Fiji and even the Pacific is the striking sandbar which connects the islands of Waya and Wayasewa, especially visible at low tide.  The remoteness of the Yasawa chain — being further away than the Mananucas from Fiji’s “mainland” of Viti Levu to the southeast, has contributed to the preservation of traditional architecture of the islands.
